The Dead Hang - hang from a pull up bar and time how long you can do it. 0-30 seconds, beginner. 30 seconds to 1 minute is intermediate. Anything longer is advanced.
The Cooper Test - a run that approximates a VO2 max. Run for 12 minutes and keep track of distance. Getting your VO2 max estimate requires a little math. Take your distance (in miles), multiply it by 35.97 and then subtract 11.29. This is your VO2 max estimate. For males 30-39: > 2700m Excellent, 2300 – 2700m Above average, 1900 – 2299m Average, 1500 – 1999m Below average, < 1500m Poor.
Pushups - Males 30-39: >30 Excellent, 22-29 Very good, 17-21 Good, 12-16 Fair, 11 or less Needs Improvement
