Ryan Drobny, MPH
I work in the Data Center of my local health jurisdiction (LHJ) - The Spokane Regional Health District (SRHD). Washington State has 35 such LHJs.
Some of our work includes periodic Community Health Needs Assessments and the Quality of Life Survey.
We also perform more targeted services such as program planning & evaluation for public health programs (both internal to our agency and external, within our region).
Find more about some of the data we help produce for Spokane at the agency webpage and more broadly at countyhealthinsights.org.
How I got 'here' in my career
The rest of this page is my career arc, in narrative form. If you want something more traditional, here is my resume (coming soon).
I graduated from university in 2012 with a BS in mechanical engineering. My interests, however, are more related to systems problems - something I was exposed to more in the few courses I took for my sustainable development minor.
I tell you that now, because back in 2012, I didn't really know what my interests were. I have a slightly better sense now.
Anyway, after graduating, I went to work for Boeing, occupying a few different engineering roles. Early on, I worked on teams that managed multiple improvement projects at a time, related to commercial airplane assembly work. These projects primarily looked for ways to reduce injury risk, repetitive motions, or improve assembly efficiency in some way.
